CANTERBURY

Discover the story of Thomas Becket’s murder, on a Private Guided Tour around Canterbury Cathedral and see the oldest stained glass windows in the whole world! Afterwards, experience Evensong in the Cathedral, usually sung by the Choristers and Lay Clerks or join local people at the Goods Shed, enjoying local produce from our own Garden of England.

DOVER CASTLE & THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER

Explore Dover Castle, known as ‘The Key to England’, which was built by King Henry 2 for pilgrims on their way to the shrine of Thomas Becket. Inside the Keep, you can find out more about castle life and explore the medieval tunnels beneath or climb to the top of the Keep for fabulous views over the Kent coastline and the famous White Cliffs of Dover.

LEEDS CASTLE

Leeds Castle, surrounded by a beautiful moat is said to be ‘The loveliest castle in the whole world!’ Several films including Henry 8th and Lady Jane were shot at the Castle. You can wander through the picturesque grounds with your camera and hear stories about the castle’s last owner – American heiress, Lady Olive Baillie, before seeing the unique Dog Collar Museum and her sumptuous apartments.

RYE

Explore medieval Rye on foot – attacked by the French, the town is perched on the hillside and was once surrounded by the sea. It’s quaint old streets are full of history and tales of smuggling. Climb to the top of Mermaid Street, stop for breather, where the Hawkhurst Gang met with their pistols on the table and find out more about a grisly murder in the churchyard!

LOCAL VILLAGES

Explore quaint local villages such as Wye or Chilham, both set at the foot of the North Downs in Kent. Chilham Castle Gardens were designed by the famous gardener ‘Capability’ Brown and Chilham village itself looks as if it has stepped out of the Tudor period.
